The Haunted Asylum By travis
In 1997, my friend eric and I made a trip out to Broughton
hospital in western NC to document a ghost story for our senior
projects. The hospital which has been closed for 15 years now, was
built in 1864 to house the injured in the civil war. Since that
year the hospital has seen over 230 deaths 150 of them were murders.
But anyway, we got permission from the present owners to stay the
night on the grounds. as we enterd through the gothic style gates
I thought there is no going back now. the place was pitch black
no lights what so ever. All we had were the lights on our video
cameras. We started our search in the main hall were the mess hall,
main offices and recreation centers were. We really didnt see anything
here although we heard footsteps on the stairs leading to the chaplains
office. We then went to the morgue and the solitary confinement
room. The morgue was scary as pure hell, me and eric split up to
see what we could find. About 2 min. went by when erics came!
running out of the basement of the morgue like a bat out of hell.
He said he seen the ghost of a fairly large man who only had half
of a face. I agreed when i said lets get the F**K out of this building
when we got out we seen a weird cloud of gray mist float past the
building where the patients where housed at. We decided that would
be where we would go next. as we enterd we seen signs were some
satan worshippers had been. Pentagrams upside down crosses..etc.
In this building would be were we got our cool footage but it wasnt
visual when we started approaching room #366 we heard a disembodied
laugh an evil laugh and then screaming. and a deep scary ass voice
said LEAVE NOW! we did what the voice said and got out of there.
But we werent through. we had to check out the woods behind the
hospital where a brutal murder took place in 1904. It is said that
you can still see blood on the trees where the dismembered body
of a woman patient was found. we filmed the area turning up !
nothing. but when we reviewed the tape the trees in the woods h!
ad a reddish appearance. By then we had had enough with that place
so we walked back through the gates and to my car when we turned
around and looked back at the main building, one of the upstairs
lighs were on. The scary part is there is no power running to the
facility at all. well, thats my story If you are ever in morganton,NC
check out broughtion hospital I assure you, you will never come back.
