Nightmare 3
"I'm pretty tired too," I said to my wife as I closed the door to the office.
Our office is in our second bedroom. She switched the light off in the office as I opened the door to the bedroom. I clicked on the bedroom light and nothing happend. The light didn't go on.
"What is it?" She asked me.
"It's the damn lights again." I said flicking the switch up and down. For some reason the fact that the lights didn't work was not a surprise to me.
"Did you hear that?" My wife asks, clutching my arm.
An echo quality. I look down the dimly lighted hall and I listen.
I hear, faintly, a childs scream.
I see nothing.
I try the hallway lights. They don't seem to work either. Everything seems to be lit though, with a very dim yellowish glow.
I hear the childs scream again. It's much louder now.
I looked down the hall again.
This time I see a large, lumbering figure approaching us. I can't make out the face, but he is wearing a flannel shirt. He is canting from side to side as he walks. His Arms outstreatched to each side. In one hand he had a blunt wooden object. For some reason I knew this was a chair leg from one of our dining room chairs. In the other hand was a package, that I soon realized must be the child.
There was a roar.
And then I woke up.
