Nightmares

I have been living in a small southern California town for about three years now and have experienced many unusual nighttime events. All of these experiences seem to occur between the hours of 3:00am to 4:30am. I live in a two story 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath condo with a cool view of the San Gabriel mountain range. The basic nature of these events elude me, but the more I research into simialr experiences, the more I believe there is something more than nightmares or stress related triggers at work here. It starts with something waking me out of a deep sleep usually around 2:30am to 3:00am. When I awake I am in the state where you know you are awake, but are still so groggy that you could fall right asleep if you put your head back onto the pillow. At this point when I atempt to fall back asleep, I either hear loud bangs (like a door slamming shut) or arguing/yelling (I never can quite make out the words)and get the feeling of a presence in the room that is grabbing or lunging at me. At times I think I am attemping to get up to leave my room when I feel as if something attacks me (more mentally than physically), only to find that I have never got out of bed. I have two cats that normally sleep in the room with me, but when this phenomena occurs they seem to be in a very deep sleep and do not even stir when I jolt upright out of my sleep. More times than not I have to actually get out of bed and go downstairs to watch tv until 4:30am or later before I can return to bed and get uninterrupted sleep. The presence feels more feminine than masculine but it has a very dark energy that surrounds it. I have researched into sleep disorders (night terrors) and although on the surface the descriptions are similar, I have asked my older brother who lives with me if he has experienced anythimg unusual, and he also has been plagued by this same anomly (although he seems to relate it to an aggresive masculine energy). I dont know if we are just crazy, or if there is something beyond the normal going on here. We have had two o! ther roomates before(they are not living here now) and both, who have never met, explained times when they swore they heard someone walking around upstairs when they knew they were the only ones at home. The animals do not have any problems in any room of the house, so I do not believe this to be anything really negative(animals are notoriously sensitive to physic energy) but it is still bothorsome due to the fact that I have so mnay nights of disturbed sleep.
