I am driving through an empty forest. The car I am driving is an orange mid seventies American Coup. The trees are gray and leafless…charred. The sky is a dark reddish orange. I come to an opening in the trees.

I am not in the car anymore. I am standing in the opening in the trees. I see two abnormally tall, abnormally gaunt white figures with tattered clothing approaching me. Their faces are little more than skulls with a smattering of gray white skin. They have no apparent lips and their eye sockets look like two dark misshapen holes.

They are carrying what looks like a body that is burned almost to ash. They carry the body to the middle of the clearing, moving slowly and languidly. Once they made it to the middle they dropped the body. The body immediately disintegrated into a powdery ash sending a small billow of powdery dust into the air.

They repeated this countless times, dropping the bodies in the same place, only creating a pile of white gray ash.

Finally, I said, "what happened here.

After a second or two, one of the walking figures stopped. It’s eyeless sockets stared at me an burned through me with an unexplainable intensity that said, "How dare you disturb us."

Then I woke.
