Movie Review

This film's underlying premise was more interesting than the main storyline. The main storyline consists of a wild, young woman (Patricia Arquette) from Pittsburg, who recieves a crucifix in the mail from her mother who is constantly traveling abroad. This crucifix is possesed by an ancient priest who. Patricia Arquette's character starts to have strange wounds, Stigmata, appear. These are supposed to be in the same places as Christ recieved when he was crucified. The crucifix was originally stolen from a church in Brazil before being sold. In this church we find a statue of the Virgin Mary crying tears of blood. Investigating the statue is Gabriel Byrnne, a priest/scientist (strange enough combination) working for the Vatican. Gabriel Byrnne is also sent to investigate the appearance of the Stigmata. There is temptation and plenty of excitement in this one. The chill value I thought was only fair though. I gave this 3 chills.
