Queen of Tragedy

By Leah Heidenreich

"Here I sit upon my throne
Of darkness, blood, and broken stone
Pieces of lives once whole, but now frayed
Stitched into the rug at my feet, decayed
Shards of broken dreams for my crown
Imbedded in flesh when hope was torn down
My scepter a spear of pain and hate
Forged by those who stormed my gate
Looted my home and tore down my walls
Left angry specters to haunt these halls
In my castle of restless ghosts
Here I am, your broken host
I am the Queen of Tragedy
Dying eyes drink in all I can see
Watch it rot with no hope to save
>From the hands of Bitterness, that heartless knave
Kingdom of pain and suffering and fears
We now survive on other's hot tears
Invite my subjects to feast and behold
I suck them dry till emotions bleed cold
No one survives long so I sit alone
Spine stiff upon this bloody, scarred throne
Waiting forever for the break of day
To die, finally send my spirit away
I am the Queen of Tragedy
Not something I ever thought I'd be
But here I wait in this palace of sorrow
Trapped, ever looking for elusive tomorrow."
