Story of Charles Pyke

by Shane Watt

In the late seventeenth century, back in the pristine time when this Gothic cemetery was fresh, and when it's church shimmered radiantly; an infamous sexton known as Charles Pyke, once reigned here. Around crackling campfires and bellowing hearths, or just amid some flickering candleflames during tempest havocked nights; the gory legend of this mad gravedigger is often told, and descendants of the archaic town Grenidge will never forget his name, or what he had done. Festival is held every year in honor of the defiance executed by their evil-stricten ancestors, against that wicked individual centuries ago; and ever since the bloody tenure, his sick influence still dominates.

Previous to his menacing awaking in Grenidge, not much is known... It is believed he had a link with the Devil himself, and perhaps hawked his soul for demoniac capabilities. Though this may seem totally ridiculous, it does make some sense, even if just a mere fraction, because the mystical feats and unsound behaviour he had so blaspemously exhibited, mirrors the Devil's own handywork. Only there's another possibility that might explain his supernatural performances, and that is none other than the blasted Necronomicon. The accursed volume written in Damascus, some time in 800 AD, by the crazed Arab Abdul Alhazred; full of bazaar incantations inducing such witchery when spake, enchantments, curses, and even the hellish ressurection of the dead. All this, and all this together, though understandably considered by the world as absolute lunacy, can only define the freakshow administered by Satan's very own minon, Charles Pyke.

The only solid fact about his background is that he had served for a lengthy time as a monk, masking himself behind an allegiance with God, but indeed with different intentions, devilish intentions... It is stated that the only reason he had associated himself with the Society of Jesus in the first place, was just in order to attain a cemetery position, and for reasons utterly horrific.
