i am now reading through these posts and your answers...as much as i want to believe i dare say i can....i am sorry i dont want to become a bother...id prefer email pals..hehe..i wish your significant other chose to converse with we "simple minded"mortals...oh now that sounds so stupid... i am quoting u..." Hello John,

Being a vampire takes a will to survive. It takes instinct. It is not an escape, it is much harder than mortal life, but the benfits are sweeter. " through my relations with a vampire..i have learned the benefits are not much sweeter really....photosensativity is truly a bitch..sun blisters etc....the ability to read minds isnt always wonderful..however great for parlor tricks..not always nice to really get into the heads of those with the blank stares on their faces...quite frightening. What are the benefits u think u have? i see much of this as a curse..to be driven and controlled by a hunger that can never be fully satisfied...a hunger that causes a great deal of pain if ignored..and a hunger that makes u question your own sanity when ur submitting to it. You are much like a puppet..when your hunger kicks in.... i watch salem...i watch the hunger begin to kick in....his normal self steps out..as 'caine' takes control. The women are all over him like flies on shit..so we both call them 'flies'. they are so attracted to him..and dont know why..they obsess over him..and it is his hunger that causes these flies to flock. It is like a radar..and they are answering the calls...he loved delving into the sins of the flesh..the carefree carnal desires and taking of these donors...however now he has found me....someone he searched life times for...he doesnt want to destroy it again... i want him...as mine....as only mine...there is no way my jealousy could knowingly allow him to feed from other women....and come home to me.....this is why i chose to be his only meal ticket...yet that hunger.."caine" not a fake being..he is very real..hates me for denying salem the ability to 'hunt'. Caine tries to make me hate salem..by saying harsh hurtful things to me....i love him..i am his..as he is mine and nothing can destroy that..only death can....but i know salem fears his hunger..fears even one day he will be feeding from me..caine will take over..and take me fully..taking my life..or chosing to make me like he is. If he made me a vampire....then he cannot feed from me..that means he would have to feed from other people...etc...and so ciane would win... salem is in his own hell and he wants out..there is no way he can not be a vampire..this..everyone knows...but...how can u see benefits in this? u do perhaps because ur lover is pretty much a demon..(sorry but true) ...and u both hunt...so no hurt feelings...but im mortal..and plan on remaining as such...plus mother to be...This whole thing is quite twisted.. oh yes on with benefits...so what are the fringe benefits?hehehe.... i can read minds...this is true...Salem always said..he was drawn to the pure white light in me....my energy is very concentrated..and potent...so when he feeds from me...it lasts longer... im a wiccan witch..i do read tarot cards..but ive always read auras and minds....so what are the benefits?hehe... im done..u wont hear from me unless i hear from u sorry if im a bother..

Blessed be
Adonia

Hello Adonia,

Let me begin by apologizing for not replying to you in the past. I've been so innondated by emails that I feel as though I spend all of my spare time in front of my laptop computer.

I'm not so certain your friend is a vampyre in the same way that I am. I'm not saying that his needs are not genuine, or doubting you in any fashion. I have learned that there are more wonders on this planet than you or I will ever know.

We differ in several ways:

1. I require blood nearly every day.
2. I do not intake any other food source.
3. I do not believe I can procreate.
4. If I do not have blood for more than a day or two I would be wrything in agony, not just pale.

I know what it is like to love someone. I have a love that has grown stronger every year for nearly three hundred years. I have never had a child, so I cannot give you insight on that. I can say that you might want to put the considerations and well being of that child above the love for Salem. Not that you should shun Salem, not at all.

But, you must think about what will be best for you and the child you will have to care for.

I feel your struggle and pain. I wish my counsel could be better in this case. If you need to email me again, you can reply to this email address.

My sympathies and thoughts are with you.

Sincerely yours,

Agememnon

Just wondering if this means anything. A sign in front of a bar with a woman and a man with a bird. Also upon coming across your page the only thing I could think of was I'm back. Did you know/know of a Lydia who was married twice?

The image you are seeing is the sign on the "Man Full of Trouble Tavern" in Old Philadelphia. I did know a woman named Lydia. If this is the same person, I did not know she was married twice. Do you have a last name? Perhaps a date?

Sincerely yours,

Agememnon

I don't have any other names or dates but the only other thing I can tel you is a few years ago i was told by a palmist that I was previously wiccan in my last incarnation and I was continuing now where I left of from then. I was just beggining to study wiccan at that time.

Dear Agamemnon,

***At the writer's request, part of this message has been omited.***

1. You said you have fangs. I wish I had beautiful fangs myself. But how much longer is a tooth than the rest to be considered a fang. I imagine fangs are at least twice as long as the rest of the teeth. Maybe 2 inches?

2. As a vampire, how do you hunt? Do you jump on a person and bite, or can you actually hypnotize the victim not to remember anything, and even heal the bite marks?

3. Can you fly, like in the movies?

4. Have you ever considered Reiki as a source of food replacing blood?

5. Why don't you drink animals' blood instead of human blood?

6. If I were to become a vampire, and I with my limited experience wanted blood, what would be the best way to get it? I can't just go out at night, unless I go thru the walls! Maybe a hospital? Or should I really try to attack people?!!!

sincerely yours,

Seeker of the Light

Hello Mr. Bloefeld,

Well on your questions:

1. My fangs extend down about half an inch or so longer than my actual canines did. They are, of couse quite a bit sharper. If my fangs were 2 inches long, I couldn close my mouth and I'd probably drool like a dog. (smile)
2. If you want to know how I hunt, stop watching Bella Lugosi, put on the Discovery channel and watch a cheeta. I may be just a bit faster though.
3. I cannot fly, nor can I turn into a bat. I can jump up heights that might seem like flyng to some.
4. No, I have not considered Reiki as a source of food. I cannot change my appitite for blood. Would you considereating dirt or horse manure, if you were told that they contained all the nutrients that YOU needed? Anything but blood would taste repulsive.
5. Well, I don't have sex with animals either, but I would consider it to be equally repulsive. I am not saying that drinking blood is quite like sex, although it has its intamacy. But the drive for human blood is the same as the sex drive in it's preference for humans. I'm sure theyere are vampyres somewhere that may have had animal blood, I just don't know any (And I don't think I want to).
6. If you become a vampyre you will know what to do. God gave us instinct and the ability to blend with humankind in order to survive.

I hope I have not offended you in any way. I found your reasoning logical, but, unfortuantely not realistic. If you continue your pursuit of us, take my warning seriously. A vampyre is not likely to reveal his or her nature until it is too late.

Walk carefully my friend,

Agememnon

Dark Greetings Agememnon
I was just wondering if there is such a thing as a master vampire? and if  there is what makes them different from all the others? Thank you for you time.
Pamela

Hello Pamela,

I have only heard the expression "Master Vampyre" in works of fiction. There are however a few exceptionally old vampyres who seem to posses some enhanced abilities. Theses vampyres seem to have greater strength and speed, more accute senses and faster reflexes. Mine have all been augmented, and can appear "super-human." Theses creatures can move accross a crowded room so fast no human can see them with the naked eye, that sort of thing. They posses an intelegence that is frightening. Beyond normal comprehension.

I hope this answers your question.
Walk carefully,

Agememnon

A couple little curious queries....I'm curious, the name you use, what does it mean, and what is it's origin?  If anything?

Also, as I'm sure you seem to be aware of, but not sure of, there are others out there as old, or perhaps even older than you claim to be, AND in the US..and...some of those may have gotten around some themselves.  I'm curious, in Olde Philadelphia, did you ever run across any others, besides your mate?  Others as in vampyres...Because it seems to me, that a certain Michael, whose father's name was Thomas, who was an attorney , disappeared from the site of Rittenhouse Mills at oh, around that time....I am not saying disappeared from "Fincher and Flower" either...and oh yes...what other commodity did Rittenhouse at that time traffic in?  Do you know?  Because paper was not the extent, as you should well know, many budding companies at that time did not specialize....also, as you state in your Introduction, you seem to be familiar with Front street at that time...do you know what the first bridge in the city was?  It was on Front street, and was over which waterway?  And what ! type of bridge was it?  Also, it just drives me insane to fathom being thrown from Front Street, to an alleyway SOUTH of Pine.  Please explain that, as the distance is, or was, tremendous at that time...I am only asking to satisfy my own curiosity as to your credibility, for I DO know these answers, and the routes well traveled in Olde Philadelphia...

On another note, your hyperbole is fascinating, and believable....to a point, until read by another vampyre.....

So please, by all means, fulfill my request for the answers to these questions, by email if you wish, privately, or publicly, the choice is yours alone.......

Until next time Agememnon.........

Hello Tattunigma,

I will not reveal my real name. I took the name Agememnon from the Greek Plays. It is my right, as it is yours, to use a pseudonym.

Yes, I have run across other vampyres in the Philadelphia area besides my mate.

I assume you are a historian and can verify facts from my aging memory or are you claiming to be a vampyre yourself? I am curious where you got a story af that time of a boy disappearing at that time. To my recolection, there was no mention of any disappearance in any newsprint at that time (I looked).

Philadelphia had a lot of industry and trade, it started out being tobacco and trappers (furs). But there was textile production in the Rittenhouse area or you could be referring to the trade of the oldest profession, which was also thriving in that area (Yes, even with the Quakers).

I can remember a draw bridge on Front Street that went over the Dock Creek. I believe it was built before I was born, perhaps around 1700 or so and Front street DID and still does extend and intersect Pine Street. I know it because I was there.

I enjoyed your Historical Trivial Pursuit.

It has brought back some memories for me.

Please feel free to do so again,

Agememnon

Dear Agememnon,

You've probably guessed my opinion of your claim from the subject heading, and I beg your pardon if it seems rude to you.  I mean no offense, but I'm sure you can see why I would be doubtful.  This is the 21st century, and while the idea of a vampire nearly three centuries old typing away at a computer, answering questions from random web surfers is amusing in an ironic sort of a way, it's necessary to exercise some healthy skepticism on subjects like this.  (Otherwise we might as well set up the stakes and start burning witches again.) So I hope you won't mind answering a few questions regarding your life and hunting habits.  Nothing personal is intended, I'm merely curious, but I hope my questions contain valid concerns you might want to think about.

My first question, starting with the least important, is about your fangs.  A few people have asked about your fangs, and you said that your fangs were as necessary for your survival as our canines were to us humans.  The problem is that a human's canines arent very essential to our survival.  They are essential, but our survival is not dependent on them.

Canines, in fact, are not essential to many predators.  The canines are important for tearing off chunks of meat, but they are not necessary for piercing the flesh.  Most biologists will tell you that it is the incisors that make bite (if you remember biting into an apple, may recall you used the front incisors and not the canines).

Indeed, even if fangs are used to bite into the skin, you will probably only make two small puncture wounds, and I doubt you could drink enough blood from wounds that size, no matter how deep they were.  You would have to make a deep bite with severalof your teeth and aim for a vein.

Which brings me to my question, why on Earth do you have elongated fangs?  It seems to me that the rest of your teeth would be elongated and/or sharpened as well.  In fact, according to most folk legends, vampires came with a variety of different ways of getting blood.  Some had sharpened incisors and some had one upper eye tooth and one lower tooth sharpened and extended to facilitate tearing.  Yet other legends mention barbed or forked tongues.

The only time where fangs show up as a trademark of vampires is in American pop culture.  They were introduced in vampire movies during the 50s.  Neither Bram Stokers novel or the movie based on it mention fangs.  Most pop culture historians think they were added for affect.  Bared fangs and growling seem to stimulate something deep in our brains.  (Our primate selves telling us to run for the nearest tree, because something is trying to eat us I suppose.)  Since then, elongated canines have been part of the vampire mythology.

So, why would you have fangs if you were an authentic vampire?  I should think they would draw attention to yourself among mortals.  Especially in past years before the pop culture vampire spawned an underground community where you could hide.  They add nothing to your survival and put you at risk.  What I'm basically asking is: "What's up with the fangs?"

I could go on, but I see this post has already taken up too much space.  So I'll have to save my  other questions for a later date.  Thank you for your time and I hope this finds you well.

Sincerely,
A. E. Barnes

Mr(s) Barnes.

I am not offended. Skepticism like yours has kept me alive for many years now and I am, quite frankly, grateful for it.

Actually, I can remember fangs appearing in cinema as early as the first silent vampyre film Nosferatu. Max Schreck's Count Orlock had a particularly ugly set of sharp protruding fangs. This was in 1922. Even in the book Dracula, his teeth were described as exceptionally sharp, and white.

With regard to comparing my fangs to a cat, I compared my hunting style to a cat. I am, however not a cat, not any more than I am human. My fangs do quite a thorough job of puncturing blood vessels. I also have some type of enzyme in my saliva that prohibits blood from clotting. You would be surprised at how well a human can bleed, though not as fast as in the movies. I laugh in the depiction of Anne Rice's Novel how they suck a person dry in under 5 seconds. Quite preposterous.

Take care my friend,

Agememnon

Greetings Agememnon.

I have read thru your introduction and some of the questions posed to you and I can't help but wonder what sights you must have seen thru your 295 years and what an immense amount of knowledge you have aquired in almost three centuries. With all of this combined, what would you say is the most important thing (or things) you've learned since your transformation into a Vampyre.

Myself, personally, have no desire to be afflicted with your condition, but your story facinates me. Secondly, are you a spiritual person? I don't mean in regards to todays religions, but to the earth, water, fire, air, and universe. And, if so, what insights have you gained from your life experiences.

Hope to hear from you.

Your friend, eye of the beholder.

Hello my friend,

In my years I have had many revelations regarding the human condition, but one thing I have observed is mankind's habbit of thinking of earlier generations as inferior. Certainly, Human kind has made technological achievements, this very one not being the least, but man himself (or herself) has not changed much through the ages. I don't mean physical changes, but in their general thoughts and feelings.

I have been asked by the Web Master of this site to answer your questions to the best of my ability about being a vampyre. You may email me at agememnon@frightscape.zzn.com or Click Here to send me a message.
